Highway 99 Blues Club Announces Twenty Bands to Play in Thirty days

Highway 99 Blues Club, announced its lineup today featuring local and national artists in the Blues spectrum. The club will host over twenty bands during the next thirty days. It will be all Blues on the Waterfront this weekend with the B.B. King Blues Festival at the Pier on the 31st and Blues master from Chicago Studebaker John and the Hawks on stage at Highway 99 on July 30 and 31.

Seattle, WA July 29, 2004 -- Highway 99 Blues Club, the West Coasts hottest new home for live music six nights a week, announced its lineup today featuring local and national artists in the Blues spectrum. The club will host over twenty bands during the next thirty days. It will be all Blues on the Waterfront this weekend with the B.B. King Blues Festival at the Pier on the 31st and Blues master from Chicago Studebaker John and the Hawks on stage at Highway 99 on July 30 and 31. Highlighting the August schedule, the celebrated Jump Boogie Blues band Mitch Woods & His Rocket 88s will take over on August 6 and 7. In addition Alaskas number one blues band and rockabilly star Joey Fender & the 55s are scheduled to jump off stage the weekend of August 13-14.

Garrett Clayton, club partner said, it has been a great first month, the musicians are having as much fun on our stage as the audience has had watching them. The stage was designed to provide unobstructed site lines from all seating angles and let the audience and musicians feel a closeness and connection to each other. Randy Oxford, of the Highway 99 All Stars said, This is one of the best stages Ive had the privilege to play on. Highway 99 is all about the music and as a Blues musician, I can say, it is exactly what Seattle needed!

The August schedule includes many local musicians such as; Harmonica player Paul Green on August 3, Jazz Underground, an eighteen piece big band performs on August 16. Zydeco favorites deliver their tunes with File Gumbo on August 4, Les Femmes DEnfer on August 8 and Zydeco Locals on August 25. Other musicians include Johnny Broomdust on August 10, The Jellyrollers on August 17, Rusty Williams Band on August 19, Jazz Police on August 23 and Rod Cook on August 24. Master slide guitarist Nick Vigarino will play and sign his newly released CD on August 27 and 28.

About Highway 99
The club was conceived in the spirit of Louisiana juke joints and Chicago blues clubs, Highway 99 is designed as a total entertainment and night out experience, with music at its core, yet with so much more adding to this dynamic setting. Conveniently located across from the Seattle Aquarium at 1414 Alaskan Way The full bar is complimented with a distinctive southern menu created by John Lee, known for his kitchen work at Mizz Sadies of the Owl in Ballard. In between sets, guests can mix and mingle around pool tables, a 34-foot bar made up of five antique second hand doors, reclaimed blue velvet benches from the old Masonic Temple, and a fireplace.

The club accommodates up to 250 guests, and is available for private parties on Sundays.

The Lineup:

Weekdays the music starts at 8:00 p.m.
Weekends the music starts at 9:00 p.m.

Blue Mondays: Seattles best large bands play the blues. Jazz Police, Jazz Underground, Fat Cat, and the Soul Pistols.

Tuesdays: Its Back Porch Blues with some of the best acoustic and traditional blues players around. Paul Green, The Jellyrollers, Rod Cook and Johnny Broomdust will alternate weeks.

Wednesdays: American Roots! Americana on the road; spanning eras and genres rockabilly, Zydeco, Cajun, Gospel and folk blues.

Thursdays: Highway 99s own soon-to-be-famous Rent Party- Featuring The Highway 99 House Band, Highway 99 All Stars, and special guests.

Weekends: New and legendary local, regional and national bands. The weekends will jump with some of the hottest and coolest musicians.
