Aloha From the Monterey Bay Aquarium to the Maui Ocean Center

Monterey, CA February 6, 2004--The fabulous Maui Ocean Center was featured recently at the Monterey Bay Aquariums Young Women in Science first book club event. Teen girls from three counties surrounding Monterey, California sent an Aloha greeting to the Maui Ocean Center during the Missing on Maui Treasure Hunt presented by Jean Anderson and Linda Lininger, co-authors of the featured book club selection: Missing on Maui.

Missing on Maui, the third book in the Hannah and Niki Mysteries series, is an action adventure mystery for smart teen girls. In the Missing on Maui story, best friends Hannah and Niki attend a teen leadership conference at the Maui Ocean Center when a congressional intern vanishes without a trace on the island. With sharks in the water and on land, the teens vow to find the missing intern before another girl disappears.
   
As part of the fictional teen leadership conference, Hannah and Niki must travel all over Maui to find clues about Maui marine life, history, and legends, which leads the reader on a unique virtual tour of Maui.

Forty-five members of the Monterey Bay Aquarium Young Women in Science and the Student Oceanography Club read Missing on Maui. They were invited to the Monterey Bay Aquarium to play a special Missing on Maui Treasure Hunt game where readers searched for the Maui facts woven into Missing on Maui. The authors signed books and conducted an interactive answers session complete with fantastic Maui slides.

Each delighted girl was awarded a Missing on Maui CD containing an interactive Missing on Maui Web Guide with tested links to Internet sites about each educational topic, a Maui Goody Bag, and a Maui Aloha Teddy Bear. Many girls said that they cant wait to visit the Maui Ocean Center.
